Shorely – Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 10, 2025

What we do
Shorely lets people share beach conditions in real time. Users may submit a short report and an optional photo that can appear publicly after moderation.
Data we collect & why
Photos and videos (user provided): If you choose to upload a photo with your report, we store it in a private server bucket and display it publicly only if approved by moderation and only for a limited time window (currently up to 8 hours). We use the photo to illustrate current beach conditions.
Location (precise, user‑initiated): When you submit a report, we ask for your location to verify you’re near the beach (proximity check). We use this strictly to validate the report. [If true for your backend:] We do not store your raw location; we only store the report after validation.
Account information: If you sign in (e.g., with Google), we receive basic profile info to create your account and prevent abuse. Guest mode is available with limited features.
Diagnostics/analytics (if applicable): We may collect app logs or usage events to improve reliability and combat spam. [List any SDKs you use.]
How we share data
We don’t sell personal data.
We use service providers (e.g., hosting, authentication, storage) to operate the app.
Approved photos are publicly viewable in the app for a limited period (they may remain stored for moderation/audit).
Permissions we request
- Camera: to let you take a photo for your report.
- Photos/Media: to let you choose an existing image (Android Photo Picker where available).
- Location: to validate proximity when you submit a report.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit; access is limited to authorized services and staff. [Briefly describe safeguards.]
Retention
Reports are retained to maintain app history. Photos not approved may be deleted; approved photos are displayed for a limited time and may be retained for moderation/audit. [Adjust to your practice.]
Your choices
You can decline permissions; you can still browse the app but can’t submit a photo without Camera/Photos permission or a report without Location.
To request deletion of your account or data, contact us at nicolas@shorely.app.
Children
The app isn’t directed to children under 13.
Changes
We’ll update this policy when needed and post the new effective date here.
